Do you want a smooth butt? Here are my top tips and tricks to get rid of pesky pimples on buttocks and prevent them from coming back.
If you have experienced pimples on buttocks, you will know the struggle. While pimples on buttocks are very normal and extremely common, they can get pretty annoying. But the fact that the red or pus-filled lumps on your behind are not technically acne may give you some comfort. They occur due to a type of skin irritation called folliculitis. But what causes folliculitis? Folliculitis develops when the skin’s hair follicles are irritated, causing red pimples that resemble acne lesions. Friction is the main culprit behind skin irritation. Activities like wearing tight-fitting underwear or bottoms, skipping the post-workout shower, shaving or waxing, or even soaking in a hot tub can all lead to pimples on buttocks.
Are you struggling to get rid of pimples on buttocks? Luckily, there are a number of ways you can get rid of these pesky breakouts. I have compiled a list of top tips and tricks to help you combat this issue:
Take a shower after workouts
Sweat is one of the leading causes of pimples on buttocks. Therefore, I advise hopping in the shower right after your workout sessions. Showering immediately after working out can help get rid of sweat, oil, and dirt that accumulate on the skin’s surface. I also recommend using a mild antibacterial soap.
Use a body wash with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide
Using an acne wash formulated with benzoyl peroxide can help kill acne-causing bacteria. Massage the body wash over your breakouts and let it rest for three minutes before rinsing. Do this once a week. Alternatively, choose products with salicylic acid, as it helps to break down dirt and oils and unclogs the pores on your butt. When used in leave-on products like a toner or moisturizer, salicylic acid has the ability to smooth bumps, remove dark spots, and reduce the appearance of acne scars.
Try a chemical peel
If you want to get rid of pimples on buttocks, try a chemical peel. It exfoliates your butt and unclogs the pores. Chemical peels contain mild acids that are applied in a single layer on the skin. They tackle pimples on buttocks by removing the top layer of the skin and uncovering new, healthy skin. There are three types of chemical peels:
- Superficial peels: These only penetrate the outer layer of the skin. These peels use mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid.
- Medium peels: These use trichloroacetic or glycolic acid to reach the middle and outer layers of the skin.
- Deep peels: These fully penetrate the middle layer to remove dead skin cells.
If you have sensitive or inflamed skin, I recommend opting for mild chemical peels.
Try laser hair removal
Did you know that laser hair removal is an effective method to treat pimples on buttocks? Since folliculitis is caused by hair follicle inflammation, laser hair removal is frequently used to both treat and prevent it. It destroys the root of the hair follicle. It tightens the follicle opening, thus preventing the folliculitis-causing bacteria to enter and cause inflammation.
Moisturise regularly
Regularly moisturise your buttocks to prevent breakouts. It is common thing that moisturising your skin can lead to clogged pores. On the contrary, it hydrates your skin and strengthens your skin barrier. I recommend choosing a body lotion that has lactic acid, as it nourishes your skin while simultaneously exfoliating dead cells. This prevents pimples on buttocks and gives you a smooth and even-toned butt.
